Which Truck is Better Ford or Chevy

Which truck is better, Ford or Chevy? When compared to the Ford, the Chevy is by far the superior truck. A few highly regarded sites, including Autoblog and iSeeCars.com agree. Let’s look at what the following publications had to say:

  • The Ford F-150 loses value the fastest of any truck, according to a ranking of trucks by Autoblog that looked at how well they keep their value!
  • According to a separate research conducted by iSeeCars.com, 2.2 percent of Chevy Silverado 1500 pickups have logged more than 200,000 miles. That percentage was 2.1 percent for the F-150. Despite being a tiny number, it is noteworthy because of the volume of trucks sold each year.

You’ll see that they both perform better than any other vehicle in their class and are fairly similar in many areas, despite the Ford F-150 having a little higher towing and payload capability than the Chevy. Here are a few additional distinctions between the two:

  • J.D. Power has awarded the Chevy Silverado 1500 a flawless 5-star projected reliability rating. Although the Ford F-150 came close, it has a rating of 4.5 stars, falling short of the Chevy.
  • Gas mileage may not be a top priority when purchasing a truck, but you should be aware that the Silverado has the highest mpg in its class. Here the Silverado 1500 reigns supreme: Comparing each brand’s diesel offering, the Silverado wins out compared to the Ford.

Reliability Across All Segments: Ford vs. Chevy

Each vehicle manufacturer’s reputation for reliability is assessed by J.D. Power by calculating the number of problems experienced per every 100 vehicles sold. One of their studies found Chevy to rank at 123 PP100 (PP100 = Problems Per 100), while Ford came in at 126 PP100.

Although three issues on average per 100 vehicles sold might not seem like a big deal, the sheer size of each manufacturer’s operations gives makes this quite an issue for the Ford.

When we looked at the survey done by iSeeCars.com, which is quite competitive, the Chevy Suburban grabbed the top rank in the Best Full-Size SUV category. Several other Chevy cars took second place as well. The only category that Ford ranked high in is sports cars, where the Mustang ranked above the Camaro. Ford, on the other hand, received just two honorable mentions in addition to this top rank.

Pricing and safety: Compare Ford and Chevy

Asking price is paramount for Galesburg drivers, and both brands are extremely close in their pricing. They target similar percentages of Kalamazoo drivers and engage in tight competition across all vehicle segments. Warranty coverage is quite similar for each brand as well.

When it comes to safety, Ford did earn a couple more top picks than Chevy, however, Chevrolet did win top safety picks with the Equinox. Chevy also features Teen Driver Technology that can help protect any new driver in your family.
